Volunteer

VOLUNTEERS ARE WELCOME AND ALWAYS NEEDED

Pheasants Forever is always in need of good volunteers! From helping on Arbor Day to work besides students planting trees, help at work bees at the Muskegon County Wastewater grassland restoration project, help with the youth and women's hunt, help at the annual Pheasants Forever Great Outdoor Youth Rendezvous (our youth day at the Muskegon County Fairgrounds on the first Saturday of June), help at Pheasants Forever Great Outdoors at the Sportsmen for Youth event in September, to help make our annual banquet in September a success! Please call any board member you may know with any questions or contact David Farhat at 231-767-0222 or Denny Radel at 231-744-9323 to get your name on the list of helpers who want to be part of making good things happen in Muskegon County!

Another opportunity to volunteer was presented to PF just recently:

Journey 4-H Youth Mentoring

Journey 4-H Youth Mentoring matches adult volunteers with court-involved youth.  We partner with the 14th Judicial Circuit Court, Family Court Services and the Juvenile Detention Center to bring caring, committed mentors into the lives of our youth in an effort to reduce the frequency and severity of repeat offenses.  By being a positive role model to these young people, our mentors provide them with a link to the community, as well as opportunities to build new relationships and try new things.  Volunteers have the option of mentoring within the traditional one- on- one model or participating in the new Outdoor Challenge.  In this series of activities, matches build their relationship while rock climbing, fishing, canoeing, orienteering, or taking part in other outdoor events.  We also invite volunteers to be youth visitors, where they go to the Juvenile Detention Center on weekends to spend time with any youth staying there.  We thoroughly screen and train our mentors, and ask each for a commitment of two hours per week for a minimum of one year.  Consider passing on your hobbies, interests, and love for the outdoors by being a mentor.  Please contact Susan Fenton, Program Coordinator, at fentons@msu.edu or 231.724.6641 for more information.
